The Purpose of Your Life Is…

by Michael Yang on September 24, 2011

Many of us have the same routines and schedules each day, go to work, come home, and get ready for the next day. We’re all creatures of habit. Turn on the TV and we’ll see that for as hard as most people work, they are just barely getting by and not very happy doing so.

I always wonder, during the course of the day, how many people stop for a moment, and ask themselves, “On a bigger level, what is this all for? What is my purpose? What am I meant to do? Who am I meant to be?”

Purpose

Even though each person may answer differently, their answer is rooted in a core intuition that is a part of everyone nature. This core intuition is…

That the whole purpose of this life is to undo our impression of limitation and the fear of the world that comes with it.

Ask anyone if it feels right to be barely surviving, to be hungry, to not feel happy, to not feel like you have options or choices. The answer will be a definitive NO! It simply does not feel right in our heart to not be feeling Joy, Abundance, Happiness, and peace of mind.

It’s easy to get caught up trying to take care of day to day things. Bills, chores, assignments. As a matter of fact, it’s effortless! When our purpose, to undo our false impression of limitation, is not apparent to us, we can become consumed by the necessary but mundane responsibilities of life. Bills, chores, errands and day to day things overwhelm us and there’s still a week until the next paycheck.

The Systems We’re In

There are systems that we are all a part of. And it’s hard to see this because we’ve been in these systems almost our entire lives, but almost all of these systems are not designed to offer boundlessness or your perfect lifestyle. These systems have limitation built into them. Someone once said that everyday you work, you’re building a dream, is it yours or someone else’s?

When we don’t know that we have the power and full capability to create, we look to the outside for guidance.

We look to a job for security. We look to going out for entertainment. Sometimes we reach out in the dark and latch onto the first thing or person that offers any source of direction. And even though there’s absolutely nothing wrong with asking for advice, I definitely think it’s backwards to not look inside and ask ourselves first, “What matters to me?” before looking outside for suggestions.

Work This Way

This is not to say “don’t work”. It is absolutely crucial to work! But work with purpose and intention! Work with with the knowing that something great and grand, as you see it, is meant for you. Rather than just going through the motions to survive and “make a living”. We all have the power to create, develop, and manifest. Life is a divine opportunity to experience this.

Even though the mind at its current state may not be able to acknowledge it, the heart of each person knows that it is boundless, limitless. If the goal for each individual in life is to undo our impression of limitation, there must be a process that will reveal this knowing to ourselves.

It won’t take years, but it will take practice. Check back next time for the Steps to Revealing your Purpose!

I remember my own power when I allow stillness in my life. It’s a conscious act, and one that I try to do for at least 5 min a day. Society (which is really us) has shaped our lives to be on the run. Looking forward to more regular blog posts! Great stuff, Mike. Aloha!
